Marine Reserves

Port Honduras Marine Reserve lies just north of Punta Gorda Town at the foot of the mountains. From the shore, the reserve boundaries are drawn about 1/2 miles from PG and encompass the four Snake Cayes. The reserve includes 20 miles of pristine mangrove coastline, where seven jungle-lined rivers flow to the basin in estuarine conditions, out to fully saline areas of reefs and cayes; small mangrove islands which provide lots of food and shelter for juvenile fish. The six cayes offer beautiful sandy beaches.
