Port Honduras Marine Reserve
Port Honduras Marine Reserve lies just north of Punta Gorda Town at the foot of the mountains. From the shore, the reserve boundaries are drawn about 1/2 miles from PG and encompass the four Snake Cayes. The reserve includes 20 miles of pristine mangrove coastline, where seven jungle-lined rivers flow to the basin in estuarine conditions, out to fully saline areas of reefs and cayes; small mangrove islands which provide lots of food and shelter for juvenile fish. Sapodilla Cayes Marine Reserve
Area: 39,000 acres.  The southernmost islands in Belize are the Sapodilla Cayes, comprised of Franks Caye, Frenchman Caye, Nicholas Caye, Hunting Caye, Lime Caye, and Tom Owens Caye. The six cayes offer beautiful sandy beaches. All of the Sapodilla Cayes are destinations for snorkelling, fishing, and scuba diving along the Barrier Reef.   The Sapodilla Cayes Marine Reserve (SCMR) is located approximately 48 miles offshore from Punta Gorda covering the south part of the Belize Barrier Reef.
