Near the village of Santa Teresa, are two of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Toledo District, located deep in the rainforest: the incredible Machacon and Monkey Falls. Machacon Falls is in fact 4 relatively small waterfalls adjacent to each other. Monkey Falls is located much deeper in the jungle and is much larger.
The best way to really experience these waterfalls is to travel by canoe with a local guide. One guide in the village of Santa Teresa, Mr. Pedro Chub, will be able to take you to both the waterfalls; however you will have to rent your own

On the road from Punta Gorda to Santa Cruz you will pass two waterfalls. The San Antonio Waterfalls and the Rio Blanco Waterfalls. The first waterfall is about one mile out of San Antonio Village on the right side of the road. It is a nice little waterfall with a changing room and a thatched house up the hill where you can buy some cold drinks. Every Sunday the group of villagers, who maintain the surroundings of the waterfall, arrange a barbeque. There are plans to build cabanas in the future so people can overnight. The San Antonio
